When we work with local services and organisations to apply Contextual Safeguarding to their child protection system, we use ‘system reviews’ as opportunities to pause and reflect on the extent to which they - and the wider safeguarding partnership - are implementing a Contextual Safeguarding approach. This System Review Tool mirrors the approach used by our researchers during system reviews. We share this tool to support service leaders and/or other researchers who are evaluating or exploring the use of Contextual Safeguarding in services, organisations and partnerships, to help them identify and assess progress in implementing a Contextual Safeguarding approach.

When developing whole systems change we use systems reviews to understand how work is developing against the domains of Contextual Safeguarding and if it aligns to the values. These system review resources provide guidance, templates and examples to assist system leaders and designers to complete your own system review.
